Senator Kingibe claimed that Akpabio was unaware of a statutory allowance she received, claiming she had just received a holiday token for enjoyment. However, Akpabio later retracted his statement, and Kingibe refuted the claim. A credit notice for N2 million was received by 109 Nigerian senators, but attempts to speak with Kingibe were unsuccessful due to his media assistant’s non-response.

Sen. Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, ordered that Nigerian senators receive their “holiday token” compensation.

Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja earlier refuted the contentious instruction that has angered Nigerians and dominated social media.

A Thursday attempt to get the Senate management to comment on the conclusions of the aforementioned findings failed because they remained silent.

Kingibe claimed Akpabio was talking about something she “did not know” about because she had just got “statutory allowance.”

Recall that Akpabio had instructed the clerk of the national assembly to send each senator a “holiday token for enjoyment” on the final day of the extraordinary session to confirm ministerial nominees whose names had been sent to the president for screening and confirmation by Bola Tinubu.

But once his colleagues voiced their disbelief and scowled at it because it was putting them in the spotlight, he retracted his statement.

Later on, Akpabio added that he had sent “prayers to your mailbox,” a claim that Senator Kingibe again refuted by saying, “I have not received any email.”

The 109 senators in the upper house of Nigeria, according to THE WHISTLER, have got the credit notice, according to a screenshot of the alert that was posted on Thursday afternoon.

There was a credit alert for N2 million in an alert that a senator from Ondo State (name omitted) forwarded.

Exactly 11:44 a.m. on August 8, 2023, the alarm was received.

According to the alert, “txn: credit Ac:2xx.97x Amount NGN:2,000,000.00, Des: NFT SENATE OVE/NAT” was displayed in part of the alert.

Due to his media assistant’s non-response when emailed, attempts to speak with the Senator were unsuccessful.

Furthermore, when approached to see if she has now gotten the new notice contradicting her former statement, Senator Kingibe did not answer.
